Chanderi and Maheshwari are the two traditional handloom sarees famous is Madhya Pradesh. Chanderi sari is a traditional sari made in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh India .Chanderi saris are produced from three kinds of fabric: pure silk, Chanderi cotton and silk cotton.

Maheshwari saree woven in Maheshwar , Madhya Pradesh. Maratha leader queen Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar wanted royal gifts for the royal guest. Hence weavers from Mandu and Surat were hired and Maheswari saree and turban were weaved. It is said that Ahilya Bai herself designed first saree.These sarees were worn by female members of the royal court. These saris were also gifted to royal guests. You can easily see inspiration of designs in saris in local architecture. These cotton saris are weaved with distinctive designs involving stripes, checks, and floral borders.
